Bradford Youth Summit, Bradford City F.C, 31st January 2008
Thirty one Year 11 students attended the Bradford Youth Summit at Bradford City Football Ground on Thursday 31st January 2008 as part of their GCSE Citizenship course. The purpose of the event was to explore what being a citizen means to 15 and 16 years olds living in and around Bradford. Young people from different schools and colleges attended the event.
The event started with a performance by live band Groove Station and then celebrity DJ Spoony talked about his upbringing and took part in Mastermind. Students then watched a play by GW Theatre Company called 'One extreme to the other' which tackled the issues surrounding racism.
The day was split into two sessions, session one involved students working in different workshops to explore issues around gangs and weapons, bullying, racism, drugs and alcohol The gangs and weapons workshop allowed students the chance to create a rap about this topic through discussion. Students in the bullying workshop created their own bullying bricks made out of card with a simple image and message about stopping bullying. These bricks were then put altogther to create a bullying wall. These workshops allowed students from different schools and colleges the chance to work together, share and disucss their ideas around these issues.
There were also dance performances by Sacred.

The evening was a celebration of the days events with live band Groove Station and DJ, buffet food and the chance to discuss and reflect on the days events with other young people.
The highlight of the evening was the special appearances by Boxers Junior Witter and Golden Boy Siddique and Bradford Bulls new signings.
